Well, if you can’t already guess from the title, I have an intense love of warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies.
Seriously, it’s a problem. I can’t resist.
So, naturally I found a way to combine my passion for travel with my passion for cookies and a “mini quest” to find the best chocolate chip cookie in the world was born!
This cookie-venture has since weaved its way into many of my travels, and even though this quest is not finished – let’s be honest it might never be over – I wanted to share what I have found with you so far. Just in case you might be a cookie-freak like me.
Bronze (Third Place)
After trying out several types and varieties of chocolate chip cookies far and wide, I have to say that the third-place cookie rather surprised me. I wasn’t expecting to like it, let alone have it be in my top three!
I was in Scotland and in this teeny tiny shop in Edenborough this lady was selling homemade chocolate chip shortbread cookies. I must admit despite the free sample she was offering, I wasn’t going to try it since shortbread isn’t my favourite. But I ultimately relented and had a bite. Oh. My. Goodness. Was it ever good – earning a top 3 spot in my worldly cookie travels!
Silver (Second Place)
This cookie is so good that it so often sold out within minutes of being freshly baked in store. It is desired by so many, that they say it is a good idea to call before making the trip to make sure they even have any left! Le Gourmand in Toronto, Canada is the second best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had in my life. My favourite? Chocolate chip with walnuts – so fresh, so gooey and if you time it right, still warm from the oven. *sigh*
Gold (First Place)
Drum roll please! The first place spot for the best chocolate chip cookie in the world is from Levain Bakery in New York City, USA. After doing my research I found this place and walked forever to get there. When I arrived, there was literally a lineup out the door and around the corner. The wait time was 25 minutes and it was worth it. I purchased 3 different varieties of cookie: chocolate chip with walnuts, peanut butter chocolate chip and dark chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips. These cookies were so out of this world that I went back the next day and seriously considered trying to smuggle 10,000 of them in my suitcase. So, if you ever find yourself in NYC, be sure to stop by and have a cookie (or two).
I want to hear from you!
Are you a cookie monster like me? Have you tried any of the places I mentioned? Any others that you think I should check out? Let me know!!
SEE THE WORLD, MAKE IT BETTER – and eat cookies!
